The Indoor and
Outdoor
Classroom

All Aboard Daycare is a family daycare, which means the program takes place in my home. Two rooms of my home are dedicated exclusively to daycare, set up specifically with children in mind. Your child will have all the comforts of home and all the advantages of a high-quality center in one place!

The classroom includes a book center, a computer center, a block center, a music center, a dramatic play center, a math center, a science center, an art center, a listening center, and a writing center. I have many wonderful developmental toys and learning materials for the children to use.

Our outdoor play area is fully fenced and allows children the space to run, ride, climb, throw, jump, pretend, and dream. There are two sandboxes and a water table for sensory play. More fun awaits at the playhouse, castle, gazebo, climbing caterpillar, picnic table, and ride-on toys! We explore the outdoor environment daily and on rainy days there is plenty of space for active indoor activities.

"Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers...trees to climb. Brooks to wade, water lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies, various animals to pet, hayfields, pine-cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets; and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of...education."
~Luther Burbank

A quality classroom includes:

- distinct interest areas so children can make clear choices about where they want to be;

- a wide variety of learning materials to ensure that no matter where children choose to play, they are learning;

- materials on low shelves and in containers, so children can get them independently;

- neat and uncluttered shelves, so materials are easy to see and find;

- similar materials grouped together to teach children to sort and classify (skills that are important in all academic content areas);

- picture labels on containers and shelves, so children know where materials belong;

- an alphabet clearly visible in the room and a variety of children's work on display.
